Gameweek 35+ in Review

These gameweeks are coming quick and fast, leaving little time between them to do these writeups, so it will be short and sweet today. I finished with a respectable score of 54 points, and got an absolutely minuscule 6k green arrow up to 141k. Lets take a look at what happened!

Goalkeepers

Nick Pope: 3 points

I love popey. His heroics denied a double digit Salah haul and cost Liverpool 2 precious points. He got a late yellow that cost him 3 points total but I’ll forgive it.

Alex McCarthy: 1 point

He played well, but it was against Utd. Would never have started him this week.

Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold: 1 point

The writing was on the wall that he would be benched, but I didn’t have the mettle to do it myself. Not too much of a shame, since Liverpool conceded anyways. Looks far from the essential asset he once was.

Matt Doherty: 6 points

A defensive performance was rewarded once again for Wolves, they kept their xGA down to 0.29 and totally ran the game. Unfortunately, the doctor no longer seems to get forward, but I’ll take the clean.

Serge Aurier: 1 point

It was a bad decision to start him this week. He conceded early and got a yellow, and honestly I was happy he didn’t get a red. Due to the personal tragedy he experienced, he may not play again this season.

Kiko Femenia: 5 points

Ridiculous luck to draw a penalty. Once again, Watford failed to keep a clean sheet. I’m slowly becoming worried about this man.

Roman Saiss: 6 points

This is who I should have started instead of Aurier, I just got too burned by double Wolves defense the week before. I need to learn to look at things from a much more objective standpoint.

Midfielders

Kevin de Bruyne: 3 points

A very frustrating blank from KDB, once again he created a litany of chances for his teammates that they were unable to convert. At this rate, I have serious doubts about him breaking the assist record, especially if his minutes keep getting managed like this.

Mohamed Salah: 2 points

Speaking of blanks… Salah would have scored if it were not for Nick Pope’s brilliance, he was everywhere on the day. Racked up over 1 xG but that still wasn’t enough to deal with Pope.

Bruno Fernandes (C): 6 points

This was my third consecutive week of having just an assist from my captain. He looked very much off the boil this week and was lucky to get even that. He may get rested in the FA cup because he looked absolutely shattered.

Anthony Martial: 13 points

TONY. BONES. Once again he bangs in a massive score. I wonder how anyone doesn’t have this man, and I’m glad that I’ve been backing him since before the restart.

Ismaila Sarr: 5 points

What a shock! Again points for Sarr! But it was a fluke again, as he drew a penalty. Nonetheless, a welcome farewell gift.

Forwards

Raul Jimenez: 8 points

The postman delivers again! He was lucky to score, as it was a penalty and he did absolutely nothing outside of it. Will probably get rid of him this week, and this was another welcome farewell gift.

Eddie Nketiah: 0 points

Did not play due to his red card.

Mason Greenwood: 2 points

My darling boy has returned to my team for maybe the fourth time in this endless season! Unfortunately, I think i broke him because he looked exhausted and took a nasty challenge. Lets hope for a speedy recovery.
