Gameweek 32+ in Review

With the packed together fixtures of the previous gameweeks, this one ended up feeling like an eternity. I don’t know if I’ll be able to survive the regular schedule next year, but I stay optimistic. I finished this week on 78 points, well above average. My scores post-resumption have been phenomenal, although I don’t have too high hopes about the upcoming gameweek. Lets take a look at the characters who made this all possible.

Goalkeepers

Nick Pope: 9 points

Brilliant again. So glad I got him in or I would be entirely left in the dust at this point. He seems like a real candidate for the golden gloves now and I’m gonna back him all the way.

Alex McCarthy: 2 points

Another week, another 2 pointer. McCarthy is really cementing his position as number 1 player on my bench going forwards.

Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold: 0 points

An uncharacteristic 0! All of Liverpool was woeful, but the backline in particular looked like they were still drunk from last nights celebrations. Absolutely shameful and lets hope they will try and bounce back to regain some pride.

Matt Doherty: 6 points

He lacked the attacking impetus this week, with Wolves barely scraping by Villa, but he still got the clean.

Roman Saiss: 6 points

Another week and another clean. Glad to see that my cut rate gem is still cranking them out.

Kiko Femenia: 1 point

Brought him in just so I wouldn’t waste a transfer this week, and I’m already regretting it.

Brandon Williams: 1 point

Its a real shame he lost his run of starts, because he would be such a fantastic asset right about now. I’ll probably have to upgrade him to AWB or Maguire so that I’m not wasting a United spot.

Midfielders

Mohamed Salah: 2 points

Like I said, Liverpool were awful. Mo did have a shot off the post, and I hope that he will have something to prove next week. I’ll be trusting him with the armband.

Kevin de Bruyne: 14 points

Magnificent. I say this almost every week about Kevin and that should tell you just how good he is. I fear a benching against Soton this week though, as the FA cup semis are just around the corner.

Ismaila Sarr: 2 points

How did I end up with this wasteman? Watford were genuinely abhorrent and they look like prime candidates to go down this year. I hope Sarr can call up some of that form that made me fancy him, months ago.

Anthony Martial: 3 points

The invisible man! In a dominant 3-0 drubbing, the center forward managed 0 shots and 0 key passes. This is his nature, and throughout my weeks of owning him I’ve grown accustomed to it and expected nothing less.

Isaac Hayden: 1 point

The last week for this loyal servant of my bench. Goodbye sweet prince.

Forwards

Raul Jimenez: 2 points

For once, he doesn’t deliver. You really cannot trust that early kickoff, and I seem to have dodged a bullet by only giving him the vice captaincy this week.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (C): 16 points

AUBAMEYANG! Finally, I am repaid after weeks of suffering and misery at his hands. 2 extremely lucky, gifted, goals and a nice assist later, my gameweek is saved and I am given a nice parting gift from the man. Thanks!

Dominic Calvert-Lewin: 2 points

The underlying numbers are okay, better than Ings for example, but the eye test and end product is so bad. DCL and Sarr are the biggest issues in my squad right now, and I would love if they just fixed themselves.
